Environmental Responsibility

Fazenda Rio Monapo works towards full sustainability in all productions, through improving the soil and reducing the need for artificial fertilizer and pesticides. It is the aim to produce healthy and nutritious food for the local market.

The need for artificial fertilizer has been greatly reduced by using animal manure and compost from own production.

The farm’s lab multiplies Trichoderma and Efficient Micro-organism to create better compost, as well as mitigate the effect of the Panama TR4 disease in the banana plantation.

At Fazenda Monapo a pilot tree-planting program is started to improve the biodiversity at the farm, provide shade and prevent soil erosion.
